How to Play Audio Through Multiple Bluetooth Speakers at the Same Time
March 2025 · 5 min read · Mac, Windows, and Chrome
One Bluetooth speaker isn't always enough — whether you're filling a large room, setting up a backyard party, or just want music in two rooms without wires. Here's how to send the same audio to multiple Bluetooth speakers simultaneously from a laptop or desktop.
The short answer: For browser audio (YouTube, Spotify Web, etc.) use the free
Audio Splitter Chrome extension. For system-wide audio, use Mac's Multi-Output Device or Voicemeeter on Windows.
Method 1: Chrome Extension (Quickest)
Audio Splitter Easiest Free
Pair both Bluetooth speakers to your computer first, then use Audio Splitter to send the same browser audio to both at once.
- Pair both Bluetooth speakers to your Mac or Windows PC via system Bluetooth settings
- Install Audio Splitter from the Chrome Web Store
- Open the extension → click Add Device → select Speaker 1
- Click Add Device again → select Speaker 2
- Click Start — both speakers now play simultaneously
You can add as many speakers as you need (Pro plan supports up to 5; Max supports unlimited).
Method 2: Mac — Multi-Output Device
Audio MIDI Setup Built-in Free
macOS lets you combine multiple audio outputs into one virtual device — all for free, no extra software.
- Pair all your Bluetooth speakers via System Settings → Bluetooth
- Open Audio MIDI Setup (Spotlight: ⌘ Space → "Audio MIDI Setup")
- Click + → Create Multi-Output Device
- Tick every speaker you want to include
- Go to System Settings → Sound → Output → select the Multi-Output Device
Tip: Tick Use This Device For Sound Output in Audio MIDI Setup to make switching easy.
Method 3: Windows — Voicemeeter
Voicemeeter Banana Free
- Download Voicemeeter Banana and install (reboot required)
- Set Windows default audio output to VoiceMeeter Input
- In Voicemeeter, assign your Bluetooth speakers to A1 and A2
- Enable both A1 and A2 buttons in the master section
- Play audio — both speakers receive it simultaneously
What About Bluetooth Range and Sync?
A common concern: will both speakers play in sync? The answer depends on the speakers:
- Same model speakers: Usually very close — within 10–30ms
- Different models: May be noticeably out of sync due to different codec latencies (SBC vs AAC vs aptX)
- Fix: Audio Splitter has a per-device delay slider so you can manually offset one speaker to match the other
Future: Auracast Bluetooth
Bluetooth LE Audio (Bluetooth 5.2+) introduced Auracast — a broadcast mode that lets one source send audio to unlimited receivers simultaneously, perfectly synced. Auracast headphones and speakers are starting to appear in 2024–2025. Once widespread, software workarounds won't be needed.
Which Method Is Right for You?
